February Addition

This month I taught myself two new stitches. The first is this basket weave stitch. It's really plushy and makes for a great blanket texture. The yarn I used for this is a cashmere blend and SO soft! I'm really pleased I purchased it.

The second section I created this month is what's called a V stitch. I made it too tight so it ruffles a little bit but I like the little eyelet design that it created and think it looks lacy while adding a little bit of a delicate touch. It's the same kind of yarn as the baby yellow above, just in a moss color so it's very soft as well.

Snuggle Slippers

These were extra-fun to make! I used two strands of yarn at a time to make them thick and hold their shape. The base was made with black and brown yarn while the sides and top were made with light purple and green. I want to work on variations of these to make a ballet slipper design and maybe even try mary janes with a little buckle.

Bow Bracelet

A few weeks ago I made some baby toys with this super-soft green yarn I found at a local yarn shop. Having over half a skein left over I made this bracelet and a few other items I intend on putting up at my Etsy shop next week including: headbands, hair barrettes and maybe rings and necklaces. I'll let you all know when they're up!

Beanie Stripes

After making Jon a beanie yesterday I got a little hat-jealous so I made one with new yarns and a few recycled. It's so soft and snug!

Spring Repotting

I've been meaning to replant my little green children for a few weeks now. Jon and I stopped by Home Depot last night and picked up a few gardening necessities and I woke up to a SUPER sunny day so the timing was perfect! Drilling holes into the bottom of the new and much larger planter proved to be a slight obstacle, but mission accomplished after charging my power drill. Getting some of the more spiny succulents out of their previous homes was a bit challenging as well, but after much delay, a few splinters and wrestling a bag of potting soil, my plants are finally settled into their new homes.

Now, to tidy up this little home of ours. There's yarn bits everywhere and my kitchen needs some attention! Enjoy your Thursday everyone!!

Blanket DONE!

Completed my FIRST ever baby blanket today. I made it for my best friend's soon-to-be-here little girl. I hate it that I can't be there to meet the new baby, but she's in Tennessee. Hopefully I'll make it back to that coast before she's a toddler.

Pockets Ready

Spent today making more tags pockets and product photos for Etsy. Should be up by tomorrow so I'm excited! Clover posed for some more pictures and I thought this one would bring on the smiles.

Yarn Shopping

During my search for the best prices in yarn I've stumbled across Fred Meyer's craft aisles. They've had a sale on all of their craft items since before Christmas so I went by today and snatched up some more yarn to make even more little creatures. I got lots of new colors and came home to a box full of crafty items my Mom sent me for my birthday. I'm really excited for this week because I have a slew of ideas I want to try out!

diy Curtain

I was in desperate need of a curtain for my kitchen. I was going to buy some fabric but decided to check out what my Mom had stashed away at her house. After rummaging through her sewing room I discovered some cute remnants including this one! All hand-sewn because I have no sewing machine. It took be about 2 hours to make and hang, so not bad for free!

diy card

Making this card was fun and I really like how it turned out! I used embroidery thread and some paper from Sam Flax to make the cupcake and envelope. The actual card is just some cute card stock glued together.

Jon's Birthday Gift

Since the economy is crap and we're living proof of it I decided to take the shopping out of birthdays this year. My first attempt is my boyfriend Jon and thankfully he's as big a nerd as I am so I figured he wouldn't be hard to please. He likes anything odd or silly so I attempted an alien/monster crochet project and a hand-made card. He seemed to really like them so SUCCESS! Now for the rest of my family I have until June to come up with ideas for their gifts. Wish me luck!
